In the video above, former Manager of Public Affairs at Con Edison, Paul Kerzner, offers valuable, energy-saving tips and tricks. Paul personally reduced his Con Edison bill to only $19.82/month for an entire townhouse!
What to Look For in an Appliance:
• Look for air conditioners that have an EER (Energy Efficient Ratio) of at least 10. 15 is the maximum, and below 10 is not very efficient.
• Look for top-bottom refrigerators instead of side-by-side refrigerators. Side-by-sides are always less efficient.
• If you’re in the mood for a bigger investment (and a bigger payoff!) install ductless air conditioning. Paul says that the rest of the world uses ductless already, and he personally saved 50% after he installed it. It’s a major investment up front, but in between tax rebates and energy savings, he estimates that the system pays for itself in three to five years.
