In the past five years, obtaining a curb cut and garage of your own has become nearly impossible in Manhattan. (I was consulted a few years ago in this New York Times article explaining the anti-curb-cut restrictions.)

Nevertheless, although townhouse garages are rare, there are usually a few on the market. And the prices aren’t always as outlandish as you would expect.

Let’s keep this in perspective: the most affordable condominium in the NYT article is almost $9 million, plus the $1 million for the parking space. Right now, there are no less than three townhouses, with garages, in the $10 million range and below – and one is in the $5 million range.
