After 10-Year Renovation, Seller Accepts $950K Price Cut

One problem with buying an 1861 Brooklyn Heights townhouse: sometimes those nineteenth-century builders just weren’t on board with the whole LEED thing. That might be one reason why the owners of 42 Grace Court spent almost 10 years redoing the house “to be completely chemical-free, low-VOC, organically insulated, and energy-efficient.” And then they, uh, put it on the market for $5.95 million and then for $5.7 million. The house, which the listing says is located on one of the highest elevations in Brooklyn, has finally sold for $5 million. That places it among the biggest sales of the year for Brooklyn Heights, but what were the renovation bills like?
